Alison Rossiter has recently retired from practice and has handed onto Lesley Fussell.  Lesley has over 30 years experience in Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy specialising in the treatment of muscle and joint problems, including back and neck pain, work and posture related disorders, sports injuries, joint and muscle problems following accidents and surgery. We help people to improve their health and fitness through treatment, exercise rehabilitation and advice.

Who are we?

Although Beckington Physiotherapy has recently moved to new premises, it is built on the firm foundation gained from many years of working in the musculoskeletal specialty of the NHS. Alison has been running her successful private clinic from home in Beckington for 9 years. before moving it to its new premises at Shawford farm. We are Chartered Physiotherapists and Health & Care Profession Council registered. Lesley is also a member of the Acupuncture Association of Chartered Physiotherapists

What makes us different?

Our experience is vast and varied. We both draw from our work here in the UK and abroad. As well as her clinical workload, Lesley has experience of being a clinical researcher for a national shoulder trial run by Oxford University and has taught undergraduate students from Southampton and Bournemouth Universities during their clinical placements  since 2006.

Where are we?

We are easy to find with signage on the A36 directing you to our door.

What We Offer

When you contact us for your first appointment, we will ask you which type of appointment you prefer. Some patients are still preferring remote consultations as they do not need to travel to their appointment or have other health issues to consider. More patients are now wanting to come back into the Practice for a hands-on assessment and management. For those patients coming into the practice, it is important that you do not attend if you have any symptoms of Covid, a positive Covid test or have been in contact with anyone else who has had Covid in the last 10 days.  At the point of booking we will ask you to print off, complete and sign the last 2 pages of our patient information leaflet which we will email to you, to bring to the appointment as part of your consent process.

What will you need

Any medical notes, list of medications, referral letters, x-rays and scan reports and any other information you believe relevant to your case.
Please wear comfortable clothing for the assessment whether face to face or over the telephone. You may need to undress the relevant body area so please consider wearing a vest top / shorts, to aid examination.

Please do not attend  or book a face to face appointment if you  or a member of your household has symptoms of Covid 19.

Gov UK advice is as follows

Do not leave home if you or someone you live with has any of the following:

  • a high temperature

  • a new, continuous cough

  • a loss of, or change to, your sense of smell or taste

Check the NHS website if you have symptoms

If attending the Practice

Please ensure you have completed the last 2 pages of our patient information leaflet to bring with you, completed, signed and dated. ( available when booking your appointment)

  • Please use your toilet before you leave home to reduce the necessity to use ours.

  • Please drive and park close to the front door of the practice.

  • Please then wait in your car until you are welcomed by your physiotherapist at the entrance.

  • If you have your own mask, please ensure it is freshly laundered and therefore clean before applying prior to entering the practice. If you do not have your own, we will supply one.

  • Bring as little as possible into the practice with you.

  • We will ask your driver to wait in the car rather than enter the building to wait.

  • Please avoid touching surfaces where possible as you walk through the practice to the clinic room.

  • The clinic room will have been cleaned down before your arrival.

  • You will be asked to use hand sanitiser before the start of the session.

  • Your Physiotherapist will be wearing fresh PPE of gloves, mask and apron during this session having thoroughly washed their hands first.

  • The clinic room will be well ventilated during the session and social distancing will take place.

  • Essential components of the session will include some hands on contact being  made, having gained your consent first.

  • At the end of the session, your management plan will be discussed with a time frame for review agreed. Any exercises and advice will be emailed to you after the appointment.

  • We prefer that you pay using internet banking but where this is not possible we can take card or cheque. No cash please.

  • We will then ask you to sanitise  your hands before you leave

We hope that you agree and feel confident that these measures have you and our clients safety and best interests at their core.
